Cour Cheverny AOP (Protected Designation of Origin) white wines are unique and distinctive, made from the Romorantin grape variety which King Francis I of France brought to Loir-et-Cher. Cheverny AOP red wines, meanwhile, are traditionally made from a blend of grape varieties. The fruity reds give precedence to Pinot Noir, a varietal which thrives in the local climate and endows them with body and finesse. The floral and fine whites are a blend of Sauvignon and Chardonnay.
The International Garden Festival in Chaumont-sur-Loire has been an annual highlight from late April to early November since 1992. This truly is an event worth seeing, both in the daylight and at night!
